LETTER TO A READER

Dear reader,

I’m messy. Lazy. I tend to do as much as I must to get it done well. In a sentence, I strive for an inch above average.

But not when it comes to writing. My books must be perfect, at least as perfect as I have the ability to make them. Every week, month and year I know more than before because I continue to learn. Middling reviews hurt, but I’ve learned to cope. Bad feedback will be worse, and I must steel myself.
But now and again someone likes my book a lot. That feeling…WOW. Nothing is like it.

At the core of every book lies the delicate, vulnerable heart of its author. To destroy or cherish it is a reader’s power.

Over the last few days my heart has received the red carpet treatment. A big thank you to you, dear reader, to Booklover Sue, to Pure Textuality, and to everyone who’s made me or their favorite author smile.

Your words matter as much as ours.

Love,

Carmen
